Mark 5:41-43 (Pt. 2)  Jesus’ Practical Side.

Thought/Prayer:  Topics:  2 at end.

Jesus, regarding the ruler’s daughter who had died:  “Taking her by the hand, he said to her ‘Talitha cumi’; which means, ‘Little girl, I say to you, arise.’  And immediately the girl got up and walked (she was twelve years of age), and they were immediately overcome with amazement.  And he strictly charged them that no one should know this, and told them to give her something to eat.”

In this incident, Jesus shows his practical side.  After performing the momentous feat of bringing this girl back from death, he instructed those standing nearby to give her something to eat.  It makes sense, doesn’t it?  After dying and being made alive again, one could be tired.  And, of course, whatever illness had taken life from this girl could have made her . . . well . . . weary unto death – and hungry!

Our Lord must want to serve us in like manner.  He wants us to have what we need to carry out his plans for our lives, whether it be food, money for fuel, or pencils for elementary-aged Sunday-school goers to use.  Pray today that we will ask Him to provide for ourselves beyond what we can even see.  In the LIFE battle, ask him for food for living and supplies for the day, for whatever task into which he leads us.
