Passage Psalm 54:3,4

Thought/Prayer:  Our Lives Sought-after?  Topics:  2 at end.

    “For strangers have risen against me
      And violent men have sought my life;
      They have not set God before them. Selah.

    Behold, God is my helper;
      The Lord is the sustainer of my soul.”

You say, “But no one is out to gun me down or even attempt to injure me. Why would this Psalm apply to my life?”

Perhaps there are more ways to have our lives “sought after.”  Perhaps the fact that we stand for certain values and standards makes us vulnerable to negative thoughts against us, if not a certain physical threat.  We know there are those who speak against us – We do not know what goes on in their hearts beyond that.
There is the question about being “our brother’s keeper.”  Isn’t it quite sobering that as early as the 4th chapter in the entire Bible, it was Cain who asked, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” when referring to his younger brother Abel whose blood had just spilled on the ground at the hands of Cain himself.

Yes, we are our brothers and sisters’ keepers.  And the innocent preborn are of the same fleshly make-up as any person already walking around on the Earth.  We are to keep them safe.

But there are those who do violence against these our brothers and sisters in the womb hundreds and hundreds of times every day.  So, by dint of our pledge to “keep” those little ones, we also are possibly indirectly threatened, although hopefully not to the point physically.

But these verses end with a great hurrah!  God is our helper, and He sustains our souls.  Pray that we fighters for life will remember God-the-great-sustainer.

Topics:  Pray for enough votes in the U.S. Senate and House to carry pro-life legislation in a big way.

Pray for national leaders who speak for LIFE to be clear and compassionate in words and bearing.
