Psalm 104:1-5   Thought/Prayer:  Use Our Imaginations.  Topics:  2 at end.

O Lord, My God, You Are Very Great
Bless Yahweh, my soul. Yahweh, my God, you are very great. You are clothed with honor and majesty.
He covers himself with light as with a garment. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain.
He lays the beams of his rooms in the waters. He makes the clouds his chariot. He walks on the wings of the wind.
He makes his messengers winds; his servants flames of fire.
He laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be moved forever.”  (WEB)  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

We must use our God-given imaginations here, to bring an image to our thoughts.  Let’s take a portion of this Psalm, so full of praise to God for His handiwork in creation, as the writer describes his the view of it all, in some very beautiful pictorial language.

God is clothed.  Yes, with honor and majesty – fitting garments for One who is honored and majestic.

He puts on light as though donning clothing.  In fact, He is Light (I John 1:5).

Then, think of Him, in some small way, stretching out the curtains of the heavens.  Really really big curtains.

He builds with beams in the water, creating rooms for Himself.  Again, really big beams in the waters of the world.

The psalmist uses images of things we can understand.  How thoughtful is that!  We cannot by any imaginative stretch really understand what is described here because God is indescribable.

But, Lord, we do thank you and appreciate your consideration of our finite minds when in Your Word, we are given glimpses of Your glory, Your creativity.  This glory in creativity comes right down to the formation of us humans and the time we are given to praise You on this Earth, during our lifetimes.  We pray, oh Lord, that we will stand tall for created human life in all of its imaginative aspects that You have built into us.

Topics:  Praise God that He lets us know about Himself in ways we can understand and that we ourselves are part of all of His ways.
Pray for prayer warriors everywhere.
