Psalm 139:13,14 Made Fearfully and Wonderfully

Thought/Prayer:  Topics: 2 at end.

“For You formed my inward parts;
You wove me in my mother’s womb.
I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; . . . “

I watched a program on PBS last night called “The Teachings of Jon.”  It is the most beautiful real-life portrayal of a man in his late ‘40’s, with Down Syndrome; his mental “capabilities” are at about the level of a two-year-old, but as the documentary shows, he is unlimited in his ability to teach the rest of us, to teach us about true worth and true love.  Jon is truly fearfully and wonderfully made.

The lessons learned from Jon, by all who know him, whether it be family, friends, or workmates, are astounding and awe-inspiring.  Jon loves life.  It has to be somewhat on his terms, but Jon loves life.  He earns about $13.00 per year at a sheltered workshop.  This small amount doesn’t bother him at all; he just loves folding paper, and his job involves this.

I couldn’t help but write about Jon this morning.  I taught kids with Down Syndrome, and I love ‘em.  Thank you, God, for giving the world these special ones.
