Psalm 148:7-8 -  A God of Contrasts

Thought/Prayer:  A God of Contrasts.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Praise the Lord from the earth, you creatures of the ocean depths, fire and hail, snow and clouds, wind and weather that obey him;” . . . NLT  (Read this scripture and more at

Here we have an array of natural entities – huge and powerful ones:  Fire, hail, wind, weather, oceanic creatures (sea monsters in some translations – maybe a squid was considered one?) – And:  Snow.  It’s coming down outside right now – against the street lamp—light little flakes blowing almost horizontal:  beauty, blowing.  Interesting that God includes here this tiny thing, quadrillions of which must fall every year, in this list of feats of nature.  Flakes are crystalline, fine, and minutely designed when observed up close on a coat sleeve.  But here they are numbered with fire, hail and the others.  God puts these beautiful words, these contrasts, for us to enjoy the poetic values.  He is a God of contrasts.

Contrast the life of a baby, warm in the womb, who gets to stay there until ready to take on our varied world.  Contrasted is the child ripped from the womb never to enjoy a snowflake from the sky.  We must never forget!  Never forget.  Lord, help us to pray more and more for these little lives; help us to never let up, to never relent in pursuit of their lives.  Please let them live to know this your wind, hail and snow.

Topics:  Conviction for more and more Christians, millions more, to realize that LIFE must be left to God as to when and where birth and death occur.
