Psalm 30:1-5 (Pt. 3)  Thought/Prayer:  Joy and New Compassions.  Topics:  2 at end.

“I will extol thee, O Jehovah; for thou hast raised me up, And hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.
O Jehovah my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.
O Jehovah, thou hast brought up my soul from Sheol; Thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
Sing praise unto Jehovah, O ye saints of his, And give thanks to his holy memorial name .
For his anger is but for a moment; His favor is for a life-time: Weeping may tarry for the night, But joy cometh in the morning.”  ASV (Read these scriptures and more at

There is what might be termed a companion scripture to this Psalm:  Lamentations 3:22,23.  “It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is your faithfulness” (AKJV).

“Joy cometh in the morning.”  God’s compassions “. . . are new every morning.”  Isn’t this great!

Sometimes evenings and night time can bring a bit of sadness just because we are tired and maybe we’re tired of facing the same ol‘ problems.  It may be hard to explain, but life can appear to be its most difficult in the evening.  Hopefully our pillows under our heads will relax us and bring us into some real rest in sleep.

Perhaps it’s the refreshing aspect that comes with sleep that brings us a new outlook in the morn.  Our bodies feel stronger.  Our minds work in a more positive way.  We can, maybe, think better . . . assess things better. . . make better decisions.

Not to say that everyone wakes up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed with that bright-eyed snappy energy of a squirrel doing his bushy-tailed flicks.  No, we have our “morning people” and then there are the others of us.  But still, even if it takes awhile to get going, mornings can bring a reprieve from the pressures of yesterday – or at least a renewal of energy toward the solutions.

When the worries involve LIFE decisions, praying for those in the middle of crises can help them become focused on tomorrow, in anticipation of God’s mercies and the newness of His compassions.  These Bible verses might be great to share with someone in the pit of anxiety over LIFE decisions.  These verses offer hope.

Lord, thank You for not only giving us hope in You, Lord, but also giving us words from Your Word which speak to hope.  Joy in the morning, compassions new every day:  we cannot ask for more brightness for tomorrow.  Help us to pray for those who need to know tomorrow can bring joy and God’s compassions.

Topics:  Pray for faithfulness to pray for those in great LIFE crises, that we will pray for their outlook in accordance with God’s joy and compassions.
