Psalm 92:12-15 Thought/Prayer:

  She May Have Greened Up a Bit.  Topics:  2 at end.

The psalmist says:
“But the godly will flourish like palm trees
    and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon.
  For they are transplanted to the Lord’s own house.
    They flourish in the courts of our God.
  Even in old age they will still produce fruit;
    they will remain vital and green.
  They will declare, “The Lord is just!
    He is my rock!
    There is no evil in him!”

This morning I joined a group of elders residing in a senior center.  We sang and sang, first hymns and then the old secular favorites such as “Daisy Daisy”on the bicycle built for two.  The voices were varied, many right on tune, others not, some strong, some hesitant.  But it all made for a beautiful chorus.  The tune was definitely carried.  The singing was, as is mentioned in the psalm above, “vital and green.”

My person, going on 98, joined in as best she could.  She really enjoyed it all.  Maybe she greened up a bit there.

It made me think, what if any one of these senior citizens had been made to choose death instead of life at some previous point in time—when he became less than useful to, or too expensive for, society in the minds of some?  What if, because a person would never really get better, she was forced to leave our world earlier than the Creator had planned?

I know this:  The chorus of many qualities would have lacked a voice in the mix, and the blend would have been seriously diminished.  I would have been one-voice less blessed.

Pray today – We MUST not let others decide the length of life on this earth.  Please pray that God will turn hearts toward life for the elderly.

Topics:  Pray for any pro-lifer who has been threatened in the wake of violence toward us who stand for life.

Pray for anyone who believes that those of us in the pro-life cause are collectively responsible for violence against those in the abortion business.  Please pray!
