Pro-abortion Republicans Using Romney and Pro-Life To Spread Their Views
Gretchen Carlson, a Fox News contributor, has not minced words since the election when it comes to abortion. She has repeatedly stated that the Republican party has to give up the abortion issue so they can get the female vote. I’m sure she was pro-abortion before the election. A number of so-called Republicans have come forward in the last week blaming the loss of the election on Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan’s pro-life views. They also blame Todd Aiken and Richard Mourdock, whose words were distorted and amplified to make them out to be complete uncaring morons. Let’s look at each of their “transgressions”:
Aiken and legitimate rape - Aiken wasn’t trying to say there was such a thing as legitimate rape, he was saying that in the case of real rape, not the fabricated kind, a woman is less likely to become pregnant because of the many physiological issues surrounded by the trauma of rape. Physicians for Life has more info on that here.
Mourdock - He said “I’ve struggled with it (rape) myself for a long time, but I came to realize that life is that gift from God,”. Mourdock also said. “And even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen.”
Don’t you believe things happen in life according to God’s will? Jeremiah 1.5 says “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you”. This indicates that all of God’s children are intentional. Mourdock wasn’t saying God intends for rape to happen, he was saying that the child born from that rape is His child, our brothers and sisters.
Aiken and Mourdock were guilty of speaking to a pro-abortion world with pro-abortion people in every single party. They fell into the trap of a pro-abortion media who drool for a moment like this where they can make a Christian pro-lifer out to be a total fool. Unfortunately, both of them were abandoned and thrown under the bus by Republicans and so-called “Christians”. They most likely lost their races because of this abandonment and total rejection by their party, not because of the childish press which feeds on pro-abortion hatred.
The reality is, unlike Democrats, we can’t say everything we want to say, even if what we are saying is 100% true. We have to choose our words carefully and wisely. In the end though, the pro-abortion media and Libertarian Republicans will pounce on anything which will shine a negative light on a pro-life conservative Republican.
Pro-abortion Republicans are using Romney, Ryan, Aiken and Mourdock to try to encourage the Republican party to abandon the life platform. Fortunately there are plenty of state-led Tea Party patriots who know how important defending the defenseless is, who were responsible for the taking back of the House in the last election.
Women who have abortions are more likely to commit suicide, more likely to suffer from depression, more likely to have miscarriages and more likely to have have difficult lives, not better ones. Republicans should pursue the female vote by more effectively defending and supporting them and their children, not by supporting the killing of the preborn.
I pray that Gretchen Carlson and others like her realize the right to life is our first right, without which we have nothing. If you don’t stand for life, especially of the lives of those who can’t defend themselves, then you are just another selfish person.
