Testimonies - By Kari Darrow

I think that reading abortion testimonies about what women went through, or how they felt afterward, will really help other people make better decisions about their pregnancies.

Women who have had abortions shouldn’t feel ashamed to tell their story. I understand some people will criticize what we have done and they will call us hypocrites for doing what we are telling others not to do.  Yes, having an abortion was wrong, and we who have already done it can’t change what we have done.  What we can do though is share our testimonies, our feelings and our hope that women who read them will decide to keep their children.

It is important for us to share what happened and what is happening in our lives so that people will have more of an understanding of what abortion is really like.  Many women who have had abortions don’t even know what happened to them.  I know now.  I found out a lot more about what type of an abortion I had after it was already over.  It made me realize how bad this word “choice” really is.

In my testimony, I went into some detail about what the abortion was like, what I went through at the abortion facility and the feelings I went through, before and after the abortion.

Those of us who have experienced abortion in any way need to have our say, to help people learn what it’s actually like to go through an experience like we did.  Maybe we can help change the mind of a pregnant women who is thinking about having an abortion.

Remember that what you have done is in the past, and that you have not committed an unforgivable sin. No matter how traumatic as it was/is, and no matter how you feel, when you give it to God, He will forgive you.  By speaking out about your experiences and what you have had to deal with physically and emotionally, you can really save a life. Someone out there could be alive because of you.

I believe if I would have had more information about abortions I would have kept my child, so I encourage women out there to send me your testimonies, even though it might be difficult.  We can keep your name anonymous if you like.  It might help another woman, and it might help another little one make it into this world.

I also encourage men to send me their testimonies.  Men are affected in this matter as well. It can be devastating when a man learns that instead of being a father, he instead will be morning the death of his child, after he learns that the mother of his child had an abortion against his will.  Even if a man approves of this action initially, eventually, when he realizes what he has done, he will be devastated, knowing he participated in the death of his own child and knowing he will miss out on lost fatherhood.

I also encourage you to take part in the Pro-Life movement, either with us at Pro-Life Unity or with another organization. It is a great thing to get into and it will be a lot of help in many ways for the unborn. They cannot help themselves and they rely on us to speak for them.

We created a link on the Pro-Life Unity site called “Testimonies” for all the submitted testimonies sent to us.  E-mail your testimony to me at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
