New Stanek WND column, “Top 10 pro-life stories of 2009”

WND%20logo.gif

Following are the top 10 stories of greatest impact to the pro-life movement in 2009, in both my opinion and the opinion of my blog readers. I'm listing them in chronological order, not necessarily in order of significance.

1. Jan. 20: Inauguration of President Barack Obama, who was quick to please those hoping pro-lifers were right to assert he was the most anti-life politician ever elected to our highest office, when ...

2. Jan. 23: President Obama signs an executive order overturning the Mexico City Policy, thereby reauthorizing taxpayer funding of international groups promoting and/or committing abortion. Obama defenders rationalize that at least he waited until after the Jan. 22 anniversary of Roe v. Wade, demonstrating a non-provocative tone ... toward born people, anyway.

3. May 15: Gallup releases a poll showing that for the first time since it began asking the question in 1995, a 51 percent majority of Americans consider themselves "pro-life" as opposed to 42 percent "pro-choice." Gallup credits Obama for the shift, in part: "It is possible that, through his abortion policies, Obama has pushed the public's understanding of what it means to be 'pro-choice' slightly to the left, politically. While Democrats may support that... it may be driving others in the opposite direction."

4. May 17...

Did Ben Nelson sell America’s future and the fate of the unborn?

http://prolifeunity.com

Senator Nelson promised Nebraska he wouldn't vote for any bill that had tax increases. Oh yeah, he's a politician. More and more it seems as if they lie for a living. He was also supposedly strongly opposed to pro-abortion language and funding. I guess when the green hit his palm his convictions went away?

I love how MessNBC says that Nelson is a "conservative Democrat". He just voted for a bill that raises taxes, is outright Socialist in its fabric and steals from the average to give to everyone else. What would it take for him to be a liberal?

"It took a lot of work to bring this 60 together and this 60 is delicately balanced," Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn.

Maybe he should have said "It took a lot of America's money to buy these hold-outs".

New Stanek WND column, “The one man who can stop publicly funded D.C. abortions”

WND%20logo.gif

For his phenomenal work convincing just enough Catholic voters that pro-abortion, pro-infanticide, pro-human embryo experimentation Barack Obama was actually pro-life, Catholic law professor Doug Kmiec was awarded an ambassadorship to the country of Malta, a group of Mediterranean islands off the southern coast of Italy.

Kmiec labored hard to earn that plum appointment, going so far as to rustle up a book, Can a Catholic Support Him? just 7 weeks before the 2008 election.

Sitting in a Panera cafe with winter boots on in the aftermath of Chicago's first blizzard of the season, let me check Malta's weather right now.... December being one of its coldest months, the daily average temperature is 65 degrees with 5 hours of sunshine.

But I digress. Of course, Kmiec's answer was an emphatic, "Yes!" In a May 2008 op-ed in Catholic Online, Kmiec explained....
